Celebrating Your Child’s 1st Birthday During the Pandemic

Everyone will have had a birthday or will celebrate their Birthday in 2020 – We can all agree No one expected to have a “Pandemic Birthday”.

Your Child’s 1st Birthday is a milestone in their life – a lot of Firsts have happened since they came into this world….

• Their First Smile

• First time sleeping through the Night

• Their First tooth

This is all the more reason to make the day special – Although they won’t remember his/her pandemic birthday or the fact that he/ she doesn’t know what a pandemic is, I encourage parents to make this day memorable.

 Do something special at home 

If you have family (aunts, uncles, grandparents) that live close by a Small Gathering is all you need 

We had a “Smash Cake” when my son turned one  – Your little one will love diving into this 1st Birthday Smash Cake – and you can celebrate making your child’s Special Day a “Smashing” Success.  A Birthday Cupcake is also a great idea. I do recommend having your child sit in his/her highchair and place a disposable tablecloth under it to make clean up easier.

Host a Birthday Party on Zoom

When your Family and Friends aren’t Local – Have a Remote Birthday Celebration.  At a time when people aren’t able to physically come together,  it’s important to remind children they still have a network that cares for them. Even though this gathering is happening remotely, it helps everyone feel like they’re in it together.
