Celebrating Your Child’s 1st Birthday During the Pandemic

blog 1st birthday #1

Everyone will have had a birthday or will celebrate their Birthday in 2020 – We can all agree No one expected to have a “Pandemic Birthday”.

Your Child’s 1st Birthday is a milestone in their life – a lot of Firsts have happened since they came into this world….

  • Their First Smile

  • First time sleeping through the Night

  • Their First tooth

This is all the more reason to make the day special – Although they won’t remember his/her pandemic birthday or the fact that he/ she doesn’t know what a pandemic is, I encourage parents to make this day memorable.

If you have family (aunts, uncles, grandparents) that live close by a Small Gathering is all you need

We had a “Smash Cake” when my son turned one  – Your little one will love diving into this 1st Birthday Smash Cake – and you can celebrate making your child’s Special Day a “Smashing” Success.  A Birthday Cupcake is also a great idea. I do recommend having your child sit in his/her highchair and place a disposable tablecloth under it to make clean up easier.

When your Family and Friends aren’t Local – Have a Remote Birthday Celebration.  At a time when people aren’t able to physically come together,  it’s important to remind children they still have a network that cares for them. Even though this gathering is happening remotely, it helps everyone feel like they’re in it together.

Do You Participate in Christmas in July Shopping ??

christmas-in-july-logo

Every year—around the first week of December—I hear my friends, family, and even strangers on the street complaining about the last minute Christmas shopping rush, and every year I shake my head. Christmas shopping can be stressful, sure. There is a lot to consider. You want to purchase gifts that please your friends and family, but you also want to make wise budget choices. It’s a lot to consider— especially if you’re buying all your gifts over one chaotic, expensive weekend.

Why am I talking about Christmas when it’s still 90+ degrees outside and everyone is wearing shorts and flip flops? Why, Christmas in July of course! I don’t mean that we should all go cut down a Douglas Fir and deck the halls. I mean that July is the month you can beat the annual Christmas stress meltdown and get your shopping started early.

There are countless benefits to early Christmas prep such as less stress, more time to find the perfect gifts, and less strain on your monthly budget. But, I think the most compelling reason to shop early is that you can find excellent deals on Christmas-related and themed items. So what’s stopping you from doing your shopping early?

I have some great ideas on Christmas gifts sure to please:

Hello Kitty Deoration

First, how about a gift for yourself and for your home? If you’re the type to truly get into the Christmas spirit with wall-to-wall décor, buy yourself a new Christmas item for your growing collection. It’s hard to imagine when we are still in the summer’s heat, but Christmas means the arrival of cold, snowy weather. Make sure the toddler in your life is prepared for some outdoor Christmas snow frolicking with a Puffer Hooded Ski Jacket. This jacket will make sure they are looking cool, but staying warm.

Adorable Baby Shower Gift Ideas

Spring and summer are popular times for weddings and baby showers but finding a gift can be tough. Do you get something on the registry? Do you opt for a gift card or write a check? What if you don’t know the mom-to-be all that well? To make things easier, we’ve put together some great baby shower gift ideas that are both thoughtful and practical (and affordable too).

The practical gift. Every mom-to-be can use things like diapers, baby wipes, sippy cups and toys. Browse the registry to get an idea of the types of products wanted and then shop around for the best price. Just because the expectant mother is registered at Baby’s R Us or Target, doesn’t mean you can’t buy the same things elsewhere – just make sure to tell someone if you purchase a big item like the crib mattress or stroller so they can take it off the registry. You can save on some of these everyday items when you shop Good Buys All the Time. We carry Seventh Generation diapers, Baby Magic baby wipes, and a variety of toys and sippy cups!

Practical Baby Shower Gifts

The cute gift. Every baby needs clothing but you don’t want to overwhelm the mom-to-be with countless packs of newborn size onesies, bibs or socks. Try finding some cute outfits or clothing in sizes 6-9 and 12 months so that mom has clothing for the baby to grow into. At Good Buys All the Time, we carry a variety of name brand clothing from brands like Carters for boys and girls. Here are some of our newly listed items we can’t get enough of.

Remember, it’s the thought that counts so don’t stress about the perfect gift. Babies go through multiple outfits per day so mom will be just as happy for the basic onesies as she is for the bows and frills. For more of our favorite baby outfits and gift ideas, be sure to follow us on Pinterest

St. Patrick’s Day with Good Buys All the Time

Growing up Irish, I have always loved the month of March and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with family and friends. We recently got approved to sell clothing in our Amazon store and with St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner I am so excited about some of our newest items! Have some fun with your kiddos or grandchildren this year with these adorable ideas from Good Buys All the Time.

Make a Festive St. Paddy’s Day Breakfast

You don’t have to learn to make Scotch eggs or corned beef and cabbage to get in the Irish spirit. Try adding some green food coloring to your favorite pancake mix for a festive short-stack. For picky eaters, add a few drops of food coloring to milk and serve with Lucky Charms cereal (a kid favorite)!

Wear Green

St. Patrick’s Day was originally a Roman Catholic holiday celebrating Ireland’s patron saint and observed only in Ireland; it was not until the 1700’s when Irish immigrants in the U.S. started the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City. It is customary to wear shamrocks and green clothing or accessories because St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

Whether you’re staying home or going to work, remember to wear green and show your St. Paddy’s Day spirit! For the cutest baby looks, be sure to stop by our Amazon store and browse our selection of Carter’s brand accessories and clothing.
